Description
Hospitalization of preterm infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) poses significant challenges to parent-infant relationships. In this regard, the admission of infants to NICU impacts the mental health of their parents, leading to depression, anxiety, difficulties in emotion regulation, decreased self-compassion, reduced adaptation to maternal roles, decreased parental adjustment, and the emergence of parental beliefs about the NICU. Consequently, identifying at-risk parents and providing them with effective educational programs and psychological interventions results in improved psychological well-being for these parents.
