This book covers the multifaceted social phenomenon connected with the social security coordination in the European Union. It provides a comprehensive overview and analysis of recent legal regulation followed by its interpretation reflected in the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) case law. The whole text is directed at capturing and analysing the fundamental principles of this branch of regulation on the EU internal market. The research focus of the book is further concentrated on some important today´s trends in this field: the so-called “gig economy,” blurring the line between employees and self-employed persons, and the change in the EU executive structure represented by the establishment of the European Labour Authority.
