Nexus Constitutionalism advances a bold and original rethinking of the constitutional order in the twenty-first century. At a time when states face escalating crises in water scarcity, energy instability, and food insecurity, this book argues that these challenges are not merely technical or policy-driven, but fundamentally constitutional in nature. Moving beyond fragmented sectoral approaches, the work introduces Nexus Constitutionalism as a foundational theory that elevates the interdependence of water, energy, and food (WEF) into a constitutional principle of the modern state. It reconceptualizes sovereignty as the capacity to sustain life-supporting systems, and redefines constitutional legitimacy in terms of systemic balance and long-term sustainability. The book further develops Nexus Jurisprudence, an innovative framework that enables courts to identify and address systemic constitutional harm arising from cross-sectoral interactions. Through this lens, constitutional law is transformed from a reactive mechanism into a proactive system capable of safeguarding the structural conditions of collective life. Extending beyond theory, the work introduces an institutional dimension through the Nexus Jurisprudence & Constitutionalism Institute (NJCI) as a model for constitutional capacity-building.
