Solid waste management is one of the most complex environmental challenges of the 21st century. At the heart of this challenge sit Technical Landfills (TLFs) — purpose-built facilities designed to receive, process, and store household and equivalent waste in a safe, controlled manner. Once relegated to the sidelines of policy debates, these sites now occupy center stage in national sustainable development strategies, circular economy plans, and greenhouse gas reduction programs. This book is primarily aimed at students in environmental engineering, earth sciences, and environmental law, as well as researchers and educators seeking a comprehensive academic reference on the subject. It aims to fill a gap in French-language literature, particularly regarding the North African and Algerian experience.
