Description

The book argues that artificial intelligence does not make universities obsolete, but it does remove one of their oldest advantages: privileged access to knowledge and explanation. In a world where AI can generate essays, analyse data, explain theories, create presentations and offer immediate feedback, universities can no longer justify their value simply by possessing or transmitting answers. Their deeper purpose must become the development of human agency: the capacity to understand a situation, form goals, exercise judgment, use available resources, act responsibly, learn from consequences and continue adapting. The university beyond answers must organise itself around the development of human possibility. Central thesis: When first answers become abundant, the defining role of higher education shifts from delivering information to forming people who can judge, act, take responsibility, recover, and become capable again as the world changes.
