Description
Every classroom holds a universe of learners—each with unique abilities, backgrounds, and ways of learning. Yet too often, instruction is designed for the "average" student, leaving many behind.
Developing the LIFT Learning Model Based on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) responds to this enduring challenge with a practical, evidence-based framework designed for real classrooms—especially those in rural and resource-constrained contexts. Drawing on Universal Design for Learning principles and the Indonesian Kurikulum Merdeka framework, this book presents the LIFT model: Learner-centered, Inclusive, Flexible, and Technology-enhanced instruction that anticipates learner variability from the outset rather than retrofitting after students struggle.
Based on rigorous Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model at SD Negeri 327 Sinunukan, North Sumatra, this book offers:
A five-phase syntax—Learner Profiling and Goal Setting, Inclusive Content Presentation, Flexible Action and Expression, Technology-Enhanced Engagement, and Reflective Assessment—that operationalizes UDL principles in concrete, actionable terms
A teacher guidebook and student activity book with ready-to-use lesson plans, differentiated activities, and assessment rubrics
Empirical evidence of effectiveness: expert validation rated the model 90.5% "very valid"; practicality scores reached 91.2% (teachers) and 88.9% (students); and student learning outcomes improved significantly (pretest 62.4 → posttest 84.7, p < 0 xss=removed> Inclusive by design: all student subgroups—including students with mild learning disabilities, slower learners, average learners, and high achievers—demonstrated measurable gains
Practical guidance for low-resource settings, including strategies for integrating low-cost technology (smartphones, projectors) and multimodal materials
Written for teachers, school leaders, curriculum developers, teacher trainers, and researchers, this book is both a theoretical contribution to UDL scholarship in developing countries and a hands-on guide for transforming diverse classrooms into inclusive, engaging, and equitable learning communities.
