The Interpretation of Art is composed of essays written on Venezuelan art between 1992 and 2025, in Houston, Texas, and Caracas. The essays collected reflect the effort dedicated by the author to develop an art criticism that is, on the one hand, semiology of art, that is a form of writing about art focused on the analysis, interpretation, exegesis, reading and comprehension of the language in the works, cutting the autonomy of the latter in the synchronized and timeless relationship between the work as language, the authorial consciousness that creates it, and the cultural heritage of the spectators as points of reference in that exegesis, that is, between a hermeneutics or interpretation of art through its language considered semiologically and a cultural analysis considered from the semantic perspective inferable from the way in which senses and meanings are given in the forms, morphology and iconographic, visual and spatial elements involved in exhibitions and displays of visual arts, the result is a book that is both a semiotics of art and a cultural anthropology, which also involve mobilities, travels, displacements and translations cultural translations between some scenes and others, which discusses an art developed in current languages such as installation, Mixed media, process art, and exploratory modalities in new ways of painting, sculpture, and printmaking, the book covers and discusses a wide range of artistic experiences developed by Venezuelan artists both in Venezuela and internationally, contributing not only to their interpretation and understanding but also to their appreciation and appreciation. As can be seen in this collection of essays, Venezuelan art has experienced an unprecedented and unprecedented boom and proliferation from the 1990s, which underscores its status as undoubtedly one of the most relevant in the Americas today.
