The objective of this book is to provide an up-to-date and accurate account of the history of science for young children right from ancient times to contemporary times. This work was born from the idea that basic children's literature for young children in India is woefully inadequate. This is because much of older children’s literate which has existed since the end of the 1960’s, mostly in comic form, are badly obsolete as they mix up science with pseudo-science, history with mythology, and lay the foundation for a non scientific way of thinking. Many Indian children are still weak in fundamental and foundational science, and a scientific temper is not the logical goal for most Indians. The approach followed in this book is to cover human efforts from very early times, and in different parts of the world, while always emphasizing human ingenuity, and creativity. Let us always bear the following facts in mind. Only science will help us fight blind faith, dogma and obscurantism. Only science will help us solve our environmental woes and challenges. We must create a new generation of science warriors to increase levels of scientific output, and better communicate science to the masses. We say this because the output of most developing countries in science still remains abysmally low, India included. The next generation of young science warriors must change this.
