Cameroon, like many developing countries, is facing the persistent challenge of the "brain drain," the emigration of highly qualified and educated people in search of better opportunities abroad. This intellectual diaspora represents a significant loss of human capital, impacting the potential for economic growth, innovation, and social development of the country. The reasons for the brain drain in Cameroon are multiple. Economic disparities are a major motivation, with developed countries offering significantly higher salaries, better research infrastructures, and better career prospects for professionals in fields such as medicine, engineering, and technology. The lack of opportunities for advancement in Cameroon, associated with an apparent lack of meritocracy and widespread corruption, encourages even more emigration. The loss of qualified professionals compromises Cameroon's ability to provide essential services, especially in the fields of health and education.
