This comparative study investigates how historical violence is reconfigured through the textual inscription of trauma in Alice Walker’s Possessing the Secret of Joy and Léonora miano’s Les aubes écarlates. Bridging Edmond Cros’s sociocriticism with Vincent Jouve’s semiology of reception, the current volume examines how physical and memorial trauma operates as an ideological force that redirects the reader from passive affectivity toward active historical decoding. Spanning three core axes, phenotextualization, the deconstruction of the referential illusion, and endogenous hermeneutics, the analysis provides a theoretical framework for reading trauma, opacity, and counter-sovereignty in contemporary postcolonial literature.
