Description

An imbued reading means that the meanings we are able to attribute to a text are not given by a mere projection onto those texts of our points of view, ideologies or representations, as if interpretation were a whim; on the contrary, giving meaning, signifying the experience and interpreting it is ontological to the formation of the experience itself; man essentially gives senses and meanings that shape his culture and the culture. An imbued reading is thus a submerged interpretation, immersed and delved into ways of signifying experience that were already in the culture and of which we are steeped and shaped; we belong to a linguistic community within which we form part of certain memories of visual culture, in certain repositories, and in certain preinterpretations that give culture an internal thread; grasping these threads in the interpretive process is to relate the texts we read to the interpretive culture that runs through them in their very formation; interpreting art in this way is also interpreting culture, hermeneutics, anthropology, and art criticism, thus uniting in the same fabric where exegesis as a reading of visual discourses is, in turn, an understanding of the humanities and social sciences. The book, which continues to be made up of essays on contemporary art written between the years 2025 and 2026, develops an imbued reading where the interpretation of art is in turn a hermeneutics of language and culture, and where art criticism and anthropology immerse themselves in each other until something new is obtained. A Radical Hermeneutic that let the reading enjoy and be inmersed to know significant and relevant current caribbean artists.
