Description

The migrant crisis that has developed in Europe since 2014 represents the influx of migrants from Аzia and Africa. Starting from approximately 2014, the waves of migrants became more and more massive and uncontrolled, so the peak was reached in the period from autumn 2015 to spring 2016. At that time, the most frequent was the so-called Balkan land route. Within about half a year, nearly a million migrants passed along this route. Besides the Balkan land route, which is mostly overland, there is also the Mediterranean route where Italy, Greece, Spain and France are affected.
Following the EU agreement with Turkey from March 2016, the Balkan land route has calmed down. This route is not completely closed, but fewer migrants have been passing through it than at the peak of the crisis from autumn 2015 to spring 2016. A number of migrants remained "stuck" in one of the Balkan or Eastern European countries on their way to the wealthy countries of the Union. In addition to the Balkan land route and several auxiliary routes, there is also a sea route to the Balkans.
