Description
Cicero is known as a great jurist. However, he was a lawyer who turned his nose up at theoretical jurisprudence. Cicero is also known as a great philosopher. Yet he was a thinker who did not establish his own original doctrine but understood the discourses of the philosophical schools of his time very well and knew how to use them even better than he understood them. It is written that Cicero was a great statesman. Yet in works of modern political philosophy that view the economy as the infrastructure and the state as the superstructure, he is portrayed as a complete enemy of the people. Therefore, it is certain that a historical figure as famous as this, whose works have survived to the present day in such great numbers, still has aspects that require further illumination, no matter how much has been written and discussed about him.
